The Death of Socrates

Little is known about Jacques-Philip-Joseph de Saint-Quentin, a painter who won the Grand Prix de l'Académie Royale in 1762 with his Death of Socrates. 1762 was the first year when the subject to be painted by the aspirants was antique not biblical.
