The chapel on Rotenberg Hill was planned and constructed by Giovanni Salucci as a burial site for the prematurely deceased Queen Catherina. The circular structure appears as a combination of Palladio's Villa Rotonda and the Pantheon, which is directly imitated in the coffered dome and oculus.
