The Scala d'Oro (Golden Staircase), the grand interior staircase, leads from the ground floor to the main floor. It takes its name from its gilded stucco ornaments, designed by Alessandro Vittoria and completed in 1566.
The superb stairway was executed following Sansovino's design and was brought to completion by Scarpagnino.
