This sculpture, also known as the Arsenal Madonna, is located in the atrium of the Arsenal. Of clear Roman inspiration, especially in the structure of the aedicula that encloses the Virgin, it was executed during the early years of the artist's residence in Venice and marks the beginning of Roman classicism in an environment where local tradition was still marked by Gothic forms.
