Portrait of Anna Maria Ranuzzi Marsigli as Charity

1665
Oil on canvas, 96 x 78 cm
Cassa di Risparmio, Bologna

Anna Maria Ranuzzi Marsigli was a Bolognese noblewoman who procured works of art in Bologna for the Florentine prince Leopoldo de' Medici. She is portrayed with her two sons. The third, offering cherries from the back, was probably invented by the painter to make up a threesome.
