Among the Czech painters, Antonín Slavíček was the closest to Impressionism of the French kind, though it was not till 1907 that he visited France. From the 1890s on, Slavíček's subject matter, relaxed brushwork, bright colours, and even structures were strongly reminiscent of Pissarro.
