The picture shows the statue of Christ by Francesco Talenti flanked by two small prophets from c. 1410 by Nanni di Bartolo. The three statues came from the Campanile.
From 4 January 1351 to 31 July 1369 there are records confirming that Francesco worked in the masons' lodge of Florence Cathedral, in a leading role as an architect and sometimes as a sculptor, although no sculpture can be attributed to him with certainty. His first assignment was to continue building the Campanile begun by Giotto in 1334 and taken over by Andrea Pisano between 1337 and 1341. Talenti followed his own designs for the two middle storeys (completed by 1352-53) and for the upper part of the tower shaft (built between 1351 and 1359); the helm roof was not built.
