Bellerophon on Pegasus (detail)

1743-50
Fresco
Palazzo Labia, Venice

This section illustrates the daring compositional structure and the extreme perspective in which Pegasus and Bellerophon appear. These devices further reinforce the idea of the horse galloping forward, and this is given additional emphasis by the figure of Amor who almost tumbles out of the picture, head over heels, at its lower edge.
