TINO DI CAMAINO
(b. ca. 1285, Siena, d. ca. 1337, Napoli)

Monument of Bishop Antonio degli Orsi

1321
Marble
Duomo, Florence

Tino was perhaps the most original of the sculptors who trained in the workshop of Giovanni Pisano and the one who most effectively, in sculpture, the innovative grotesque volumetric ideas. The remains of his magnificent monument to Bishop Orso is reassembled on the counterfaçade of the Duomo in its original form by using the canopies and telamones from some of Tino's Neapolitan tombs as reference material.
