TIZIANO Vecellio
(b. 1490, Pieve di Cadore, d. 1576, Venezia)

The Sick Man

c. 1514
Oil on canvas, 81 x 60 cm
Galleria degli Uffizi, Florence

The grave stillness of this painting derives in part from tones so carefully calibrated that the fox red lining of the young man's glove is startling. The title is not Titian's.
