In 1896 Lautrec decided to go on a voyage with Maurice Guibert, to travel to Bordeaux on board the "Chili" which was bound for Dakar. He noticed a fellow passenger who looked really charming. She is portrayed in the lithograph The Passenger of Cabin 54.
