TROY, Jean-François de
(b. 1679, Paris, d. 1752, Roma)

An Allegory of Time Unveiling Truth (detail)

1733
Oil on canvas
National Gallery, London

In painting the women's heads and their garments De Troy shows his ability. The apparent heaviness of touch helps to give semi-sculptural weight to the folds of drapery, painted with response to pale creamy tones as well.
