This panel, which has been cut down along the bottom edge, was probably part of a larger polyptych, judging from its shape probably as a pinnacle. Both in style and conception it is closely related to a Crucifixion with the Virgin and St John the Evangelist and Six Flying Angels by Ugolino di Nerio in the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid.
