Dario Varotari the Elder (1539-1596) was a painter and also a highly accomplished architect. He was the head of a highly successful artistic family. His daughter and grandson, Chiara Varotari (1584-1663) and Dario the Younger (active c. 1660), were both painters. His son Alessandro Varotari (1588-1649) is better known as Padovanino, whose work represents a revival of Titian's style in the seventeenth century.
