Veronese painted the frescoes on the upper part of the nave of San Sebastiano between March and September 1558. The main pictures, representing St Sebastian Reproving Diocletian and the Martyrdom of St Sebastian. Painted architecture plays a preponderant role in these paintings: a mock portico with columns, niches and windows frames them. They are treated like theatrical scenery.
