Werenskiold attended the Impressionist exhibition spring 1882. Later that year, on Tatøy, an island off Norway's Sørland coast, he painted the Shepherds on Tatøy. The influence of Pissarro is apparent; a large proportion of the 35 works the French artist exhibited in 1882 depicted farm girls and shepherdesses. | |
