At the end of the sixteenth century, Jacopo Zucchi took up the theme of the planets in the Galleria of the Palazzo Ruccelai (now Ruspoli) in Rome, expanding it into an encyclopedic depiction that included not only all the constellations and the entire firmament of ancient gods, but also representatives of the Roman virtues, allegories, and personifications.
