Panel of a sarcophagus

4th century
Stone
Cathedral, Tarragona

This relief from an Early Christian sarcophagus is set in the wall above the right side portal on the façade of Tarragona Cathedral. In the centre it shows the healing of the paralytic, first on the bed and above it the paralytic carrying the bed on his back. At both extremes is the healing of the haemorrhage on the left and the entry of Christ into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday to the right.

It is possible that the sarcophagus was produced in Rome .
