This miniature, taking up the entire lower half of folio 3 recto, depicts the Flood. The centre of the composition is occupied by the three-storey Ark, deep in the threatening waves, with the rain still pouring down from the thin strip of sky. Two people in the foreground are fighting for their lives in the flood waters. The body of one drowned person is beside them, other victims of the flood, some of them seen from a daringly foreshortened angle, illustrate different stages of struggle, of despair, or of destruction.

In its composition and colours, the Flood miniature documents the lingering presence of a style which was prevalent in late antiquity.
