Cicero: Pro Marcello, De Senectute

1445-50
Manuscript (Ms. 693)
Biblioteca Trivulziana, Milan

This manuscript contains two works by Cicero: the oration Pro Marcello and the philosophical text De Senectute, together with the French translation of the latter by Laurent de Premierfait (c. 1380–1418), a Latin poet, a humanist and in the first rank of French language translators of the fifteenth century.

On folio 33 of the manuscript, Laurent de Premierfait is shown presenting the work to Louis II, Duke of Bourbon (1356-1410).
