This manuscript contains 64 illuminations of high quality. In all probability the codex was made in Ghent in the first decades of the fourteenth century. The miniature on folio 163v shows the battle between King Arthur and the traitor Mordred, Arthur's illegitimate and incestuously conceived son. On the battlefield of Salisbury Plain both are killed. Here the dying Arthur is borne away on a cart.
