UNKNOWN GLASS MASTER, Italian

Bowl

1490s
Glassware, 5,5 x 14,5 cm
Museo Poldi Pezzoli, Milan

At the bottom of the bowl (a small cup) St Francis is painted holding a book in his right hand and a crucifix in his left. Sacred images on glassware are rather rare therefore it can be assumed that this bowl was used for liturgical purposes.
