Despite any connections with Italy, which can be proved by presence of master builders from Lombardy active in Catalonia, Catalonian architecture remained independent in the form of its buildings, while any corresponding features apply almost exclusively to surface decoration. A typical example is the church at Tahull which was consecrated in 1123.
