Schepenhuis, Mechelen

The Schepenhuis (Magistrate's Hall) is a building in Mechelen located between the Grote Markt and the IJzerenleen and is considered the first stone 'town hall' of Flanders. Additional extensions to the old Magistrate's Hall were started in 1374 by the architect Hendrik Mijs uten Anckere. The turrets of this building were the models for many city halls in Brabant.
