Castle, Bucovice

The Castle Bučovice is a unique Italian Renaissance castle to find north of the Alps. Unlike most of the Renaissance buildings in Bohemia and Moravia, this is not a period conversion of an earlier residence, but an original project of a Late Renaissance "palazzo in fortezza" type building.

In the wing opposite to the entrance and looking to the garden, there are several richly decorated rooms. Most important of them is the Emperor Room in the centre. It has a painted ceiling with stucco decoration, created in the spirit of Italian Mannerism.

The photo shows the interior of the Emperor Room.
