Hi all! Christmas Day falls on December 25. It is preceded by Christmas Eve on December 24, and in some countries is followed by Boxing Day on December 26. Some Eastern Orthodox Churches celebrate Christmas on January 7, which corresponds to December 25 on the Julian calendar. December 25 as a birthdate for Jesus is merely traditional, and is not thought to be his actual date of birth.Good luck!

Absolutely phenomenal site. I have only visited about four times in the last four years, but have been more than impressed and satisfied by viewing and downloading images. The images of the Immaculate Conception of the Most Holy Mother of God were my reason for visiting today, and these alone make this site worth its weight. You are not only doing the art world a great service, but also all people in the world who cannot go to museums to see the original works themselves, and who might not otherwise even pick up an art book. You also pay reverence not just to the great artists of history represented here, but most importantly to the subjects of these works when they are of Christ, the Blessed Virgin Mary and/or the saints. May God bless your continued efforts! Viva the Web Gallery of Art!

12/05/06 (December 5th, 2006) I also sent entry: 07/04/05 (July 4th, 2005): about the French painter, Jacques Louis DAVID, whom is a master of his portrayal to The French Revolution. NAPOLEON on his steed (the horse) from 1801 is not to be missed!! A grand composition, indeed, by Jacques Louis DAVID. Thank you, also, Web Gallery of Art: for portraying the passion of Christ on postcards. Those Italian masters!! Caravaggio and Raphael are among them in Florence, and in Rome: so appropos for the Christmas season. >People whom saw the movie/film/release "The Passion of Christ" by Mel Gibson (released Ash Wednesday in February 2005): >Can also benefit from seeing the site: Web Gallery of Art to brush-up on an education about The Great Masters for depictions of The Passion in oils, sculptures, formidable frescoes, and other compositions of Christ. Your Web Gallery of Art is very helpful: >to draw closer to Christ via The Great Masters >to understand Christian symbols >to see grand collections in Europe >to witness them via your site in ways that Americans rarely get-to see.

I find it very beautiful. I have visited the Sistine Chapel way back in 1987 but I find it very tiring to see it because it is very high. I even have to buy a book entitled "Splendors of Rome and Vatican" to appreciate the beauty of this paintings but it is too compact. With your guided tour and accompanying music, I came to appreciate it again. There is always things to be learned in your website. Thank you very much. I have shared this website to a friend who is very much interested in music. I hope that he will find it beautiful too, as I do.

I bought a sword from you at the melborne gun show. I have went on line to check it out and have many problems with the age of this sword. I need infomation as to how you came to date it to the age of 1840. This sword can be a war sword of the 1940 era. And it apears to have been platted then polished. All old and new samari swords have the visable folding lines of the steel being worked. Please call me as to proof as I purchased this sword on your word that this sword was as you stated real and of the age you said. I can not see how you can clame it to bee of the age you say. Please EMAIL me with your answer.

I am the decendant to the late Tilman Riemenscnieder and find it very interesting that he carved statues of Christ in which my passion lies in search of the whole truth I beileve that more answers are out there to be discovered. Even though I have only recently within the last three years became interested in knowing my family tree I beileve him and I probably would have had much in common. I never knew of this pheasant war and I thank you so I can further my research. My art talent is not to his degree for my life's journey has been one of a life that has not come easy. I do however have the talent of words. My poetry has been noticed by poetry.com and also by the American Poet Society. I hope if anyone reading this is more familiar with our family history or photographs that they contact me via email at friends4lyfe11@yahoo.com. Sincerly, Jennifer J.
