Still-Life Paintings in WGA


Description: First, we give an overview of the history of the still-life genre from ancient times to the 19th century and define and describe its categories (subgenres) with many characteristic illustrations. After this introduction, participants of the tour can view with explanations the digital reproductions of the over 1,400 still-lifes in the WGA collection, sorted by the 360 artists who created them in the 15th to 19th centuries.
