Guided Tour #4

Legend of the True Cross: Piero della Francesca's fresco cycle in Arezzo

Description: Piero della Francesca's cycle in the church of San Francesco in Arezzo, narrating the Legend of the True Cross (the miraculous story of the wood of Christ's Cross), contains the most modern and - in terms of perspective - the most advanced frescoes of the Italian 15th century. It was painted in the 1450s, and beautifully restored in 1985-2000. In this tour the complete cycle is presented and explained.
