Studies for sculptures
by MICHELANGELO

In addition to the studies for his realised sculptures (such as David, The Risen Christ, Victory), there are extant studies for sculptural works which were not realised, among them several variants for the tomb of Pope Julius II, and a Hercules and Antaeus group, which was to be installed as the sculptural counterpart of the marble David in front of the Palazzo Vecchio, Florence.
