Biography

Dutch painter, part of a family of painters. He was the son of Jan I and the brother of Alessandro. Charles Léopold was his son.

Only a few paintings by him are known, mostly seascapes, some of them strongly influenced by Claude Lorraine. He painted also Italianate landscapes. He was active in Italy, Dordrecht, Paris, and Great Britain.
