Former Benedictine Abbey Church, St Gallen

The Abbey Church (now the Cathedral) was designed by the architect Peter Thumb (1681-1766) in the late Baroque style. It was constructed after the demolition of the medieval monastery between 1755 and 1768. Johann Michael Beer was responsible for the handsome twin-towered façade (and probably the choir) of the church, together with his nephew Johann Ferdinand Beer (1731-1789).
