Pieter Brueghel the Younger, son of Pieter the Elder, imitated the fantasy subjects of his father, and made high quality copies of his peasant scenes. This painting is a copy of a painting by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, executed in 1565, now in the Brussels Museum. This popular painting is the most copied and imitated painting of Bruegel, Pieter the Younger himself made several copies.
