Looking like the front of a patrician mansion, this side of the Prigioni Nuove (New Prisons) hardly suggests its grim interior. The building was begun by Giovanni Antonio Rusconi (1563) and Antonio da Ponte (1589), and was completed by Antonio and Tommaso Contin.
