In the years 166768 Coypel, like most of the important painters of his generation, worked on the decoration of the Tuileries palace in Paris, being entrusted with the wall and ceiling paintings in the Appartement du Roi, on the upper floor of the palace. Several of these are extant. Part of the same decorative scheme were Apollo Crowned by Victory and Apollo Crowned by Minerva (both in the Louvre). These pictures show Coypel's typical classicizing, academic treatment of the body and face.
