This colourful double portrait of Jean-Louis Gustave d'Hautefort (1784-1850), and his sister, Marie-Thérese-Thais d'Hautefort was executed by Danloux after his return to Paris from a sojourn in England where he absorbed the art of Henry Raeburn, who had a deep impact on his late work.
