The marriage of Johann Wilhelm von der Pfalz-Neuburg and Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici, the daughter of Grand Duke Cosimo III, took place in 1691 and united the declining Medici dynasty to the Palatine dynasty, which supported the Habsburg Empire.
