The picture shows part of the fresco decoration in the Room of Giovanni da San Giovanni. The frescoes were commissioned for the marriage in 1635 between the Grand Duke Fernando II de' Medici and Vittoria della Rovere. After the death of Giovanni da San Giovanni, these were finished by Ottavio Vannini, Francesco Furini, and Cecco Bravo between 1638 and 1642.
