This manuscript contains a collection of juridical texts by the canon Francesco Alvarotti (1390-1460). The decoration of the manuscript is attributed to Girolamo da Cremona. The frontispiece on folio 2, shown here, includes a portrait of Alvarotti expounding a law book in the company of a seated youth, taking notes. The faces of the two figures have been heavily retouched. The medallions in border are of finer execution. They show Roman emperors set in frames simulating classical-style bas reliefs in porphyry.
