This drawing shows the house of the railway attendant. Van Gogh concentrated on the pollard willows which he observed with the utmost precision. The trees grow out of the slope, they stand side by side as so many characters - one slender, the other thicker, one is bent, another has cracks in the bark. The thin branches are outlined against the sky like blood vessels.
