The Adoration of the Magi

1515-20
Pen and brown ink on vellum, 270 x 194 mm
Musée du Louvre, Paris

In the early twentieth century this drawing was attributed first to Bernaert van Orley, then to Pieter Coecke van Aelst, but these attributions were discarded. The composition relates to both Dürer's woodcut from his Life of the Virgin and Schongauer's engraving of the same subject.
