Book of Hours

c. 1503
Manuscript (Codex 1897)
Österreichische Nationalbibliothek, Vienna

This Book of Hours was made for Margaret Tudor (1489-1541), daughter of Henry VII, and her husband, James IV, king of Scotland (1473-1513). It was made in Ghent or Bruges, probably soon after their marriage in 1503. The artist is to be identified as Gerard Horenbout, who later came to England in the service of Henry VIII.

The miniature on folio 243v shows Margaret Tudor kneeling at her devotion.
