The group of Virgin and Child with Angels decorates the lunette of the Porta dei Canonici on the south side of the Florence Cathedral. It is a work by Niccolò di Piero Lamberti, who was paid for it in 1402. The flowery Gothic style marble carvings on the portal are attributed to Pietro di Giovanni Tedesco, the master of Niccolò di Piero.
