The Madonna of Humility with Sts Blaise and Helen

c. 1365
Tempera on wood, 26 x 47 cm
Bonnefantenmuseum, Maastricht

This panel with the Virgin suckling the Child and the moon at her feet, flanked by Sts Blaise and Helen introducing a male donor and a female lay donor respectively is attributed to the workshop of Lorenzo Veneziano. In spite of his predella-like format, it is an autonomous devotional panel.
