Fragment of a Triptych

-
Tempera on panel, 67 x 47 cm
Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

The gabled panel was probably the centre of a folding triptych. It is divided by painted red borders into five scenes. The tympanum is filled with a scene of the last Judgment. Beneath the Last Judgment are two nearly square compartments containing the Virgin and Child with Saints (left) and the Crucifixion (right). Across the bottom of the panel are two further compartments, showing the Glorification of St Thomas Aquinas (left) and the Nativity (right).
