Triptych

c. 1520
Oil on wood, 104 x 141 cm
Joslyn Art Museum, Omaha

The triptych, painted by a follower of Jan Gossart, depicts the Madonna and Child with Sts Catherine and Agnes. The architectural settings on the wings for Sts Catherine and Agnes are elaborate deep niches of Renaissance design, which are supplemented by a similar architectural setting for the central panel of the Virgin and Child with Musical Angels. The architectural settings bear a resemblance to those in Gossart's paintings.
