Lectern

1150-75
Painted wood
Stadtkirche, Freudenstadt

Around the altar of the Romanesque church, the baldachin, like the altar itself with its antependium or altar frontal, and certain exceptional works such as the lectern from Alpirsbach, are often made of wood. This lectern with the four evangelists bearing the reading desk comes from the monastery of Alpirsbach.
