Painted wood, height 111,5 cm

In the French sculpture around 1300 there were several examples of the standing Madonna. Probably a stone Madonna from the Fontenay Abbey influenced the master of this Madonna (called the first Madonna from Toporc), although indirectly through Austrian examples. However, this Madonna is a rather individual variant which influenced sculptors in Upper Hungary and Poland.
