Michel always painted within a small area limited to the surroundings of Paris. His preferred locations were Montmartre, where he was inspired by the famous windmills, the plains of Saint-Denis, the villages of Vaugirard, Grenelle, Montsouris, Romainville and Le Pré-Saint-Gervais
