MICHELANGELO Buonarroti
(b. 1475, Caprese, d. 1564, Roma)

Horse with Two Riders (recto)

1508-09
Black chalk, 222 x 198 mm
Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam

Scholars have suggested connections between the study of the two mounted riders on the recto of this sheet and the Battle of Cascina, or the Flood scene on the Sistine ceiling.
