The red chalk studies on the present sheet are connected with the figure of Haman on the southwestern vault pendentive of the Sistine Chapel. They are rendered in greater detail than the preliminary studies in the British Museum, clarifying parts that were still undefined in the former.

The verso of the sheet contains cartoon fragment of a male head and other studies.
